Are you a parent? Then you know how much your kids love gifts.
They enjoy being surprised and love the thrill of playing with their toys.

Which is why surprising them by signing them up for Jiu-Jitsu might be the best surprise ever.
And yes, you should gift them this present as soon as possible.

Here are several reasons why.

With smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs around them, kids are less inclined to spend time outdoors and/or be active.
And, as being physically active is extremely important not just for physical but also for mental and emotional development as well, time spent in front of screens doesn't benefit them in any way, shape or form.

Getting your children into Jiu-Jitsu will, therefore, not only keep them away from obesity; but will also ensure proper emotional and mental development.

Bullying is a big issue with kids worldwide. And, unfortunately, it often takes on a physical form, where the bully physically attacks the victim.

Signing up your kids for Jiu-Jitsu will do much more in respect to bullying than just enabling them to defend against a physical attack.
It will also make them much more confident and able to stand up for themselves way before the physical tormenting begins.

Additionally, it will also make them more immune to things such as being called a "coward" and similar name calling, as the new-found confidence will have them understand they possess skills that they don't need to use at all times.
But only when it is necessary.

Do you think that children aren't as respectful as they were a generation or two ago? We do as well.
Which is why having an authority figure outside of home is great for instilling a sense of respect.

Your kids will have to be respectful towards your instructor and their training partners, all the while being taught teamwork and how to act according to previously imposed rules, which is crucial for their development into socially adept adults.

And finally, through Jiu-Jitsu training, your children will gain and then develop a sense of discipline and persistence.

Coming to class again and again, along with their school and family life, as well as when they don't really feel like it, teaches kids an important lesson: that you don't always need to feel happy about doing something, in order to do it. That sometimes, things just need to get done regardless of how you feel about them.
As well as that staying committed to something always pays off.

The kids need these lessons and these experiences.
And if you can give your child an opportunity to go through them...

You should do so as soon as possible.
